Mandatory prerequisites

Programming experience in an object-oriented language gained from an introductory programming course is mandatory.

Recommended prerequisites

Knowledge of C++ and/or Python as well as familiarity with basic concepts in robotics is recommended.

Learning objectives - Knowledge

  • Summarise the broad principles of the field of embodied AI
  • Understand fundamental methods in Embodied AI with application to robotics such as – sensor processing, sensorimotor integration, behaviour-based robot control and bio-inspired learning

Learning objectives - Skills

  • Apply the embodied AI approach for the design of autonomous robotic systems
  • Implement methods for sensor processing, sensorimotor integration, behaviour-based robot control and bio-inspired learning

Learning objectives - Competences

  • Propose solutions to problems and scenarios within the context of autonomous systems for which embodied AI approaches are appropriate

  • Introduction to embodied AI and bio-inspiration
  • Approaches and methods for sensor-driven robot behaviours
  • Behaviour-based robot control architecture
  • Introduction to bio-inspired learning
