Learning objectives - Knowledge
- Design cycle from concept to implementation of a specific component of an unmanned aerial system.
- The integration of platform and payload components in an unmanned aerial system designed for specific, higher level tasks, e.g., surveillance, exploration, or area monitoring.

- To define requirements for an unmanned aerial system based on the mission objective and concept of operation.
- Experimental validation of unmanned aerial systems.
Learning objectives - Competences
- Understand the architecture of unmanned aerial systems including the unmanned aerial vehicle, the ground control system and the payload system.
- Present and defend results from different review phases in the design of unmanned aerial systems.
Content
This course introduces the design and practical implementation of an unmanned aerial system to perform high-level missions, such as surveillance, exploration, or area monitoring. The course will cover how to experimentally validate the system.

Teaching Method
The course is project-oriented with emphasis on designing and developing a UAS for a given application. The students will work in groups of 4-6 persons. A number of lectures will be given on various topics supporting different aspects related to implementing UAS applications.
