Mandatory prerequisites

The course is intended for students with a educational background in electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics or similar. It is recommended that the student have basic knowledge about mathematics, electronics and transfer functions in time and frequency.  

Learning objectives - Knowledge

Having passed this course, the student possesses knowledge about 
  • Describing known dynamic systems by differential or difference equations and delay, in time and frequency
  • System identification of unknown dynamic systems (black box modelling)
  • Performing simulations on the basis of mathematical models describing the dynamic system
  • Validation of mathematical model and obtained simulated data on the system response

Learning objectives - Skills

The student is able to: 
  • Develop mathematical models for known dynamic systems (described by differential or difference equations and delay)
  • Develop mathematical models for unknown dynamic systems (system identification)
  • Use the mathematical models for performing simulation of the system response when the system is applied in different contexts

Learning objectives - Competences

Having completed the course successfully, the student will be able to:
  • Describe and develop a mathematical model of a dynamic system acting under different contexts and conditions
  • Use the constructed mathematical model to perform simulations of the system response
  • and simulate mathematic model of dynamic system
  • Validate the mathematical model on the basis of simulations

  • Mathematical modelling of known dynamic systems (described by differential or difference equations and delay)
  • Mathematical modelling unknown dynamic systems (system identification)
  • Determining the response of a dynamic system subjected to different stimuli using mathematical modelling and simulations
  • Validating mathematical models and simulation data
