Learning objectives - Knowledge
- Define measurement instrument and elements
- Define electric parameters and their units of measurement
- Understand the basic theory for electric circuits
- Identify the basic electric components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors etc.
- Understand the principle in basic semiconductors: Diodes, Transistors and Operational Amplifiers.
- Understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of sensors
- Sampling theory and the problems introduced hereby
Learning objectives - Skills
- Be able to give examples of sensors based on change in: Resistance, capacitance and inductance
- Be able to describe the basic principles in signal conversion analogue to digital and vice versa
- Be able to use basic techniques for analyzing electric, analogue and digital electronic circuits
- Be able to manage the tools in a basic electronics and use electric and electronic simulation tools
- Apply operational amplifiers for a specific purpose
- Reflect on the use of filtering in electronic circuits

Content
The course will give the student a basic introduction to the physical principles of sensors used in industrial applications. Further the basic electronic principles used in the signal transmission are covered in the course. The student will get an overall understanding of the role of sensor technology in industrial applications and will get a background for understanding some of the basic principles and functions of automation of machines and production processes.
