- Define light and electron microscopy and using a light microscope.
- Describe the structural composition of the skin and explain derivatives of the skin.
- Explain the structure and biomechanical properties of the supportive tissues.
- Explain the principles of the structure, operation and function of muscles and joints.
- Describe the structure and function of the nervous system / cardiovascular system.
- Explain the structure of the respiratory tract.
- Describe the structure of the digestive system and the accessory digestive glands.

The course teaching consists of lectures and histology exercises designed to support students' learning within the disciplines of anatomy and histology.
The lectures introduce a range of human organ systems, such as the digestive system, circulatory system, and urinary system. The purpose is to provide an overview of the anatomy and histology associated with these systems. The theoretical review of macroscopic anatomy is supplemented with demonstrations of plastinated human organs. The lectures serve as a complement to the textbooks, which students are expected to study independently.
The histology exercises are a key part of the course, providing students with hands-on experience in microscopy of specimens related to the organ systems covered in the lectures. These exercises require students to come prepared with prior theoretical knowledge of the histology of the relevant tissues. During the exercises, students work with exercise booklets in which they draw histological structures and answer related questions. The histology sessions provide opportunities for feedback from instructors and discussions about the specimens with peers.
Activities outside the classroom:
Outside the scheduled teaching hours, students are expected to work independently or in groups to gain a deeper understanding of the course topics.
Self-study:
Students read textbook chapters and review the topics covered in the lectures. Notes and exercise booklets are recommended tools for reinforcing understanding—preferably in self-organized study groups.
Preparation and follow-up:
Before the histology exercises, students prepare by reading the exercise booklets and relevant sections in the designated histology textbook.
Exam preparation:
Before the oral exam, students allocate time to review the syllabus and revisit the booklets from the histology sessions. This helps strengthen understanding and ensures thorough preparation.
