Learning objectives - Knowledge

The student should be able to:
  • understand possibilities and limitations in the use of ideas and concepts in a running application drawn from selected elements from the subjects of “Learning- and Experience Technology”
  • thoroughly understand the technical possibilities for the implementation of ideas and concepts in a running application drawn from selected elements from the subjects of “Learning- and Experience Technology”
  • understand the complexity of the genre “Serious Gaming” in order to explain its potentials and limitations

Learning objectives - Skills

The student should be able to:
  • program applications at an advanced level
  • integrate standard solutions and program libraries in their applications
  • put together content and digital form
  • explain the interdependence between the application and its contents in an analytic as well as in a development oriented perspective

Learning objectives - Competences

The students should be able to:
  • master iterative and incremental development of advanced applications
  • translate complex problems into advanced, dynamic applications
  • cooperate with partners from other fields of expertise 

Content

The course strengthens the students’ creative and technical competences. The students develop individually or in groups an advanced application with techniques and methods drawn from the portfolio of subjects encompassed by “Learning- and Experience Technology” within the genre “Serious Gaming”. The students are free to draw on technologies, methods, and theories which are available at the Social Technology Lab. A running, digital application as well as a report, describing the product and the process should be handed in. Alternatively, special emphasis can be put on the development of a realistic production plan including marketing considerations based on the prototype of an application developed during the course.

  • conceptual and technical development of advanced applications within the genre of “Serious Gaming”

The lecturer illustrates the theory primarily by means of examples whereupon the students guided by the lecturer solve a sequence of assignments.

Individual grading is based on an overall assessment of:

  • Oral group examination based on the project report
  • Group project report

A group consists of up to five students.
