Content

Six Sigma has gained acceptance in industry as the de facto standard for structured and advanced problem solving. This course will enable you to participate in and run Six Sigma projects. You will learn the tools of Six Sigma which will be a mix of tools at green and black belt level. The teaching will be experimental in nature with a mix of hands-on exercises and more traditional calculations in statistical software like Excel or SAS JMP; no prior experience needed.

The course emphaizes that the students learn practical skills that enable them to apply their knowledge in a practical context.

You will learn from an experienced instructor with industrial experience from training and coaching Six Sigma in Denmark and abroad.

Teaching Method

The teaching will be a mix of hands-on exercises, lecturing and analysis in software like SAS JMP or Excel (SAS JMP available at SDU).

Reexam:
The form of examination in the re-examination is the same as in the ordinary examination except the requirement of 80% 
attendance which is removed.

Re-examination will be offered first coming exam period (January/February)

Additional information

Students who have taken this course as part of their bachelor’s degree are not allowed to register for the course as part of their master’s degree.

Enrolment is limited to 30 students. If more applicants than places, applicants who meet the mandatory requirements are prioritised according to the below selection criteria:

  1. Engineering students from P/GMM/OM 
  2. Other students from SDU-TEK provided the course is approved as an elective on their study programmes
  3. Other students from SDU-NAT or SDU-SAMF provided the course is approved as an elective on their study programmes 
  4. Other students from SDU-TEK, SDU-NAT or SDU-SAMF with preapproval of credit transfer
  5. Other students from SDU with preapproval of credit transfer

Note: If further selection criteria are needed this will be based on a first-come-first-served basis. 

Please note that registration for this elective course is binding. However, we recommend you apply for de-registration of Summer School courses if you do not pass your exams in June, leaving you to register for re-exams in August. If you need to pass mandatory subjects from the 5th semester of your bachelor's programme, you cannot register for the summer course as a master's elective, as you can only take master's electives once your bachelor's degree has been completed.
